A A provocative drama set in 1960s New York, Mad Men introduces you into the mercilessly competitive world of advertising. Praised for reluming that era in an amazingly realistic manner, the series focuses on a group of men and women who lay the foundation of a business which, over time, will become a gold mine. However, the burden is laid on Don Draper (Jon Hamm, 30 Rock, The Simpsons), the god of advertising, admired, loved and envied by everyone, including his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Advertising Agency. Although he seems to have the world at his feet, the dream job, the perfect wife, the brightest smile, the sexiest mistress, appearances are deceptive. While making the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the young executives who are waiting for the perfect moment to cut the grass from under his feet. The battle is fierce.
Don Draper’s ex-wife and mother of their three children, Betty Francis (January Jones, Huff, Law & Order) gradually becomes aware of her husband’s infidelities. Betty divorces Don shortly after discovering his shadowy past… After contributing to two successful campaigns, Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Ghost Whisperer) rises from being Don Draper’s secretary to being a copywriter with her own office. Following a romantic affair with Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser, ER, Angel), Peggy gets pregnant. A young, ambitious account executive from an old New York family with connections and a privileged background, Pete often disagrees with Don.
Joan Harris (Christina Hendricks, Cold Case, Without a Trace) is the office manager and head of the secretarial pool at Sterling Cooper. She is not above using her sexuality to achieve her goals. One of the two senior partners of the agency, Roger Sterling (John Slattery, Desperate Housewives, 30 Rock) served in the Navy during World War II and was a notorious womanizer until two heart attacks changed his perspective on life. However, he continues to smoke and drink. Bertram “Bert” Cooper (Robert Morse, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Where Were You When the Lights Went Out?) is the founding member of the original Sterling Cooper advertising agency. An eccentric man fascinated by Japanese culture, Bert asks everyone, including clients, to remove their shoes before walking into his office.
Episode by episode, the tension slowly builds up between characters. As weaknesses and secrets begin to trickle out, one thing happens on top of the other… Each for himself and the devil take the hindmost!
