SEASON OVERVIEW:
Created by J. J. Abrams (Lost, Person of Interest), Alex Kurtzman (Alias, Hawaii 5-0) and Roberto Orci (The Island, The Legend of Zorro), the science fiction drama follows the FBI’s Fringe Division that inquires into a series of unexplained phenomena which are related to mysteries surrounding a parallel universe. All begins with an airline disaster that defies human logic. Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv, The Secret Life of Us), an incredibly brilliant FBI Special Agent with a complicated past, teams up with Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble, 24), a former government researcher in the field of fringe science, and Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson, The Simpsons), Walter’s estranged son, to investigate the unusual incident.
Supervised by Special Agent Phillip Broyles (Lance Reddick, CSI: Miami) and assisted by Astrid Farnsworth (Jasika Nicole, Law & Order: Criminal Intent), the unlikely trio explores cases ranging from transhumanist experiments gone wrong to the prospect of a destructive technological singularity or a possible collision of two parallel universes. The Fringe Division’s work often leads them to a biotechnology company called Massive Dynamic, founded by Walter’s former partner, Dr. William Bell (Leonard Nimoy, The Big Bang Theory), and run by their common friend, Nina Sharp (Blair Brown, Smallville). Oddly enough, the team is overseen by a group of bald, pale men who are known as the “Observers”.
As if things weren’t complicated enough, Olivia learns that she was subjected to an experiment with Cortexiphan, a chemical developed by William Bell, when she was just a child. As a result, she possesses uncanny psychic abilities such as detecting anything from an alternate world.
“Over there”, every man from the prime universe has a doppelganger… The Fringe Division deals with an avalanche of cases that are leading to a “great storm” as the parallel world appears to be at war with the prime one. How will this saga conclude? Tune in and find out for yourself!
