SEASON OVERVIEW:
A One of the most popular sitcoms of all time, Friends revolves around a group of buddies who struggle to survive in the harsh world of Manhattan, New York.
A fashion enthusiast and Monica Geller’s best friend from high school, Rachel Green juggles a whole lot of jobs. She begins as a waitress at the coffeehouse Central Perk, later becomes an assistant buyer at Bloomingdale’s and ends up as an emptor at Ralph Lauren.
Personally, Rachel and Ross, Monica’s brother, are involved in an on-again-off-again relationship. To the end of the series, the two have a daughter named Emma. Known for her obsessive-compulsive and competitive personality, Monica Geller is the gang’s hen and a chef.
The others often jokingly tease her for having been extremely overweight as a child. Throughout all ten seasons, Monica works as a pot wrestler in various restaurants. Phoebe Buffay is a bizarre masseuse and an autodidact musician. She tickles her friends to death with her own quirky songs, accompanying herself on the guitar. Phoebe has an evil identical twin named Ursula. In the last season, she meets her soul mate.
Joey Tribbiani is portrayed as a struggling actor and food lover. He wins himself a name with his role on Days of our Lives as Dr. Drake Ramoray. A simple-minded womanizer, Joey gathers life’s roses. Known for his sarcastic sense of humor and bad luck in relationships, Chandler Bing beats his brains for a large multi-national corporation.
However, after a few years, in the cold light of day, he quits his job as executive specializing in statistical analysis and data reconfiguration to become a junior copywriter at an advertising agency.
Chandler loses his heart to Monica.
Last but not least, Ross Geller, Monica’s older brother, seems to be the most seasoned of the group. A paleontologist working at the Museum of Natural History who later becomes a professor of paleontology at New York University, he survives three failed marriages during the series… Rachel, Emily and Carol, a lesbian who is also the mother of his son, Ben.
As David Crane and Marta Kauffman said while trying to pitch Friends to NBC, this show is about sex, love, relationships, careers, a time in your life when everything’s possible. And it’s about friendship, because when you’re single and in the city, your friends are your family.
