SEASON OVERVIEW:
More intriguing than the average police procedural drama, Flashpoint targets the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), whose intervention can make the difference between life and death into the most tense and dangerous situations. One of the team’ specialties is cleanly whisking the subjects away and leaving the hostages unharmed. Therefore, the term “shot” is literal in their case. Accordingly, the members of the Strategic Response Unit are as tough and sober as a judge. Still, from time to time, they show a sense of vulnerability, including Sergeant Gregory “Greg” Parker (Enrico Colantoni, Veronica Mars, Person of Interest), the squad’s leader. A sagacious and serious people reader, he knows how to go to the heart of the problem, whether he deals with a hardened gang member, a homeless drug addict or a troubled youngster about to make a huge mistake. Unfortunately, Greg’s unconditional love for his work cost him his marriage.
Born to be a spearhead, Edward “Ed” Lane (Hugh Dillon, The Killing, Continuum) is the alpha male of Team One. Uncompromising, outgoing and charismatic, he handles any tactical challenge with laser-sharp instincts and on-target intuition. Although Ed was trained to use lethal force, he is a profoundly thoughtful man who constantly struggles with doubts and second-guessing. An exceptional markswoman, Julianna “Jules” Callaghan (Amy Jo Johnson, Felicity, ER) acts as an intelligence gatherer alongside Greg. The team also includes Samuel “Sam” Braddock (David Paetkau, Stargate SG-1, Eureka), a former Master Corporal and special forces operative of Canada’s Joint Task Force 2, Michelangelo “Spike” Scarlatti (Sergio Di Zio, This Is Wonderland, Stoked), the crew’s nerve centre, Rafik “Raf” Rousseau (Clé Bennett, Lost Girl, Breakout Kings), a gifted jazz musician with the strength of a boxer and reflexes of a street fighter, Leah Kerns (Olunike Adeliyi, Combat Hospital, Being Human), an athletic, down to earth and fearless former firefighter, and Winnie Camden (Tattiawna Jones, Rookie Blue, Heartland), the main dispatcher that works with Team One.
