SEASON OVERVIEW:

Having as central character a successful mystery novelist who insinuates himself into the NYPD’s investigations, the series perfectly blends the crime procedural elements with humor. Shortly after sending his “golden boy” to glory, Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Desperate Housewives) has writer’s block. As every bullet has its billet, a copycat killer begins recreating murder scenes from his novels. Thus and so, the NYPD Homicide Unit enlists Castle’s help to find the culprit. There, he meets Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic, ER, Heroes), a tough, smart and aggressive woman who is both annoyed and charmed by the enigmatic writer. The sexual tension is immediate and increasing, mostly because she also happens to be a secret fan of his work.

Although the initial case is solved, Richard Castle uses his connection with the Mayor to explore the world’s most fascinating subject: crime. However, Detective Kate Beckett doesn’t feel too good about it. A first class investigator with a fascination for odd and offbeat cases, she joined the force after her mother was murdered. Beckett’s team includes Detective Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas, Prison Break, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), a staunch partner who loves to keep Beckett on her toes and enjoys the way Castle plays her up, Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever, Army Wives, Ghost Whisperer), Esposito’s close friend, Dr. Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones, CSI: Miami, Everybody Hates Chris), one of the few people Beckett can talk to easily and without reservation and Captain Roy Montgomery (Ruben Santiago-Hudson, All My Children, Law & Order), Beckett’s boss.
The one who often steals the show is Alexis (Molly Quinn, A Christmas Carol, Avalon High), our writer’s teenage daughter. She is unusually intelligent for her age and, nine times out of ten, more mature and responsible than her father. Sometimes, Castle asks her opinion on a killer’s motivation. Meanwhile, he is being kept grounded by Martha Rodgers (Susan Sullivan, Brothers and Sisters, Two and a Half Men), his Broadway diva mother. She lives her life to the fullest and often gives Castle valuable advice regarding Beckett.
