After being assigned to an eerie homicide case, San Francisco Police Department Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones, Ugly Betty, House) finds a fingerprint that belongs to Jack Sylvane (guest star Jeffrey Pierce, Private Practice, Castle), an Alcatraz inmate who supposedly died over 30 years ago.
Since both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, Raymond “Ray” Archer (Robert Forster, Tales from the Darkside, Last Man Standing), were guards at the prison, her interest is immediately piqued. When FBI Agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill, The Simpsons, The Tudors) tries to impede her investigation, she hardens the neck to elucidate the case.
Detective Rebecca Madsen teams up with Dr. Diego “Doc” Soto (Jorge Garcia, Lost, How I Met Your Mother), a PhD in both Criminal Justice and Civil War History, author of books on America’s most infamous prison, comic book enthusiast and artist.
The two try to piece together the inexplicable events. Eventually, they discover that Sylvane is not only alive, but he is loose, going on a vengeful killing spree on the streets of San Francisco. More than that, he hasn’t aged a day since 1963.
In those days, Alcatraz was ruled by the draconian warden Edwin James (Jonny Coyne, The Bill, Merlin) and the sadistic deputy warden Elijah Bailey “E.B.” Tiller (Jason Butler Harner, The Good Wife, Law & Order).Finally, Rebecca and Doc join forces with Agent Emerson Hauser and his associate, Dr. Lucille “Lucy” Banerjee (Parminder Nagra, Judge John Deed, ER), to face a sinister threat… the most dangerous assassins that have walked the Earth.
